Behind the gates of their Oklahoma property, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have created a life that looks remarkably different from the world in which millions of fans first came to know them.
There are still unmistakable signs of celebrity life, from an impressive residence to bold interior design. But there are also vegetable gardens, enormous flower beds, tractors, dirt paths and the kind of outdoor work that rarely appears on a red carpet.
And for Stefani, that contrast is part of what makes Oklahoma so meaningful.
The No Doubt singer has openly acknowledged that she never expected her life to take her there. After falling in love with Shelton, however, Oklahoma became much more than simply the place where her husband had roots.
It became part of their shared home.

Stefani and Shelton met while working together as coaches on NBC’s The Voice. Their friendship eventually developed into a relationship, and they began dating in 2015 while both were emerging from previous marriages.
Stefani shares three sons — Kingston, Zuma and Apollo — with her former husband, Gavin Rossdale. Shelton had previously been married to country singer Miranda Lambert.
Despite coming from dramatically different musical worlds, Stefani and Shelton discovered common ground.

Stefani shared footage from Oklahoma showing large tomatoes, sunflowers and extensive displays of flowers. Zinnias were especially prominent, with Shelton explaining that one particularly successful area benefited from soil near a creek bottom.
Other flowers shown included dahlias, Queen Anne’s lace and foxgloves.
The couple harvested some of those flowers and brought them indoors, turning what had grown outside into arrangements around the house.
That detail offered an unusually simple glimpse into their life together.
The enormous property may be impressive, but some of the routines happening on it are surprisingly ordinary.
And Stefani appears to have developed genuine enthusiasm for growing things.
Shelton has previously praised her ability with plants, saying she has a strong instinct for planting, cultivating and pruning. He contrasted that approach with his own preference for working on a larger agricultural scale.
He has even revealed that Stefani has her own tractor.

Before Stefani and Shelton married, reports emerged that Shelton had built a chapel on his Oklahoma property with assistance and input from Stefani.
It would eventually become central to their story.
Shelton proposed to Stefani in Oklahoma in 2020, and the couple announced their engagement that October.
Less than a year later, they married.
Stefani and Shelton tied the knot on July 3, 2021, in an intimate Oklahoma ceremony.
The celebration included Stefani’s three sons and her parents, while longtime The Voice host Carson Daly officiated.
Flowers and greenery surrounded the ceremony, connecting the celebration visually with the landscape that had become increasingly important to the couple.
